Anushka Sharma Denies Being Anorexic; Says She Gained Weight for ‘Rab Ne Bana …

The career of Anushka Sharma is on fire ever since her appearance in the 2008 movie Rab Ne Bana di Jodi, but it’s just that kind of fame which has propelled her into familiar territory for actresses who are rail-thin: denying claims she’s anorexic.

She finally addressed the criticism in a news conference on Tuesday explaining why the rumors are not true and why she’s so offended by the idea that she’s not eating properly.

“If I am anorexic, I’d be in hospital! I am tall. I am lean, I am active and athletic. There are so many women who are naturally lean. I have been like this for the longest time” said Anushka Sharma in an interview for The Times of India.

“What hurts the most is the way these stories affect my family” she continued. “They call me wondering what’s happening and it’s really sad.”

It turns out the whole rumor mill started after her appearance in the blockbuster film assured her place as an international superstar. “I was asked to gain weight for the character that I played, otherwise I was always this thin.”

When’s the last time an actress was asked to gain weight for a role? It’s happened with plenty of men, most notably Robert De Niro for Raging Bull, but a woman? Never. Apparently she’s lost the extra weight, causing this speculation she’s getting too thin.

So lay off international media! Leave Anushka Sharma alone and concentrate on some more important matters. After all, it would be a shame if she really did develop an eating disorder like anorexia. This kind of publicity is enough to make anyone a nervous wreck.

What do you think? Is Anushka Sharma anorexic? Is she too thin? Or just right?
